Sacrificing Children's Safety - The Hidden Costs of Green Initiatives
The Truth About Dr. Mike Aragabright's Electric School Bus Agenda
As a conservative and proud supporter of President Donald Trump, I believe in policies that put America first, respect our freedoms, and make economic sense for our hardworking citizens. This is why it's crucial to examine the decisions and affiliations of those who seek to represent us. My opponent, Dr. Mike Aragabright, has a track record that deserves scrutiny, especially regarding his advocacy for electric school buses during his tenure as a school superintendent.
The Misguided Push for Electric Buses
Dr. Mike Aragabright has been a vocal proponent of electric school buses, a move heavily influenced by the Green New Deal policies pushed by the Biden-Harris administration and their ally, Democrat Governor Laura Kelly. While these initiatives are sold as environmentally friendly, the reality is they make zero sense economically or practically for our rural communities.
Economic Nonsense
Let’s talk numbers. An electric school bus costs around $400,000—nearly four times the price of a conventional diesel bus. In a district already facing budget constraints, this kind of spending is reckless. It’s an unnecessary financial burden on our taxpayers, with little to no return on investment. Even with Biden/Harris cash flowing into the district to subsidize this program, this is not just bad policy; it’s economic nonsense.
Practical Failures
Here in rural Kansas, we face unique challenges that electric buses simply can't meet:
Limited Range: Electric buses have a very limited range before needing to be recharged. Our bus routes are extensive, and this limitation is a serious hurdle that risks leaving our kids stranded. There is no way these new buses could be used for out of town activities, like sporting event travel, like most newer buses are used for now.
Harsh Weather: Rural Kansas winters are brutal. Our dirt roads become treacherous during heavy rain or snow. Imagine our kids stuck on an electric bus in freezing temperatures, with the battery running out and no heat. This is a nightmare scenario that we must avoid.
Infrastructure Issues: Charging stations are expensive. The school district has already had to spend $80,000 on just the charging stations, in anticipation of the yet to be delivered first school bus. The cost and logistics of installing this infrastructure add yet another layer of impracticality to Dr. Aragabright's plan.
Political Agendas Over Practical Solutions
Dr. Aragabright's push for electric buses is not about serving our community's needs—it's about aligning with a political agenda. His close ties to Governor Laura Kelly and the radical policies of the Green New Deal show where his priorities lie. These urban-centric policies do not account for the realities of rural life.
Real Conservative Solutions
As your candidate for the Kansas State Senate, I offer a different vision. I am committed to practical, fiscally responsible solutions that respect our way of life and our hard-earned dollars. I understand the challenges we face because I live them every day. From navigating muddy roads to ensuring our children's safety, I am dedicated to finding real solutions that work for us.
Standing With Trump, Standing With You
Unlike my opponent, I stand with President Trump in putting America first. I believe in policies that strengthen our economy, respect our freedoms, and support our communities. Dr. Aragabright's push for electric school buses is a glaring example of the disconnect between his priorities and the needs of our district.
The Clear Choice
In this election, the choice is clear. We need a representative who understands our community and will fight for practical, economically sound policies. Dr. Aragabright's record of pushing impractical initiatives is a risk we cannot afford to take in the Flint Hills.
