New Beginnings - Kansas is Calling
A refocus on local politics by bringing my career's worth of knowledge together to serve Kansas
Over the last several weeks, many of my fellow grassroots advocates have approached me to run for the District 17 State Senate seat being vacated by Jeff Longbine. Others have called me to insist that I make a run for Congress, focusing on the 2nd Congressional District’s seat being vacated by Jake LaTurner. A few others have asked me to run for the Kansas House of Representatives.
Working with the Convention of States for over a decade was pivotal in deepening my grasp of state politics. This experience has equipped me with the insights necessary to secure a prosperous future for Kansas, ensuring our state remains a beacon of excellence for generations to come.
I must say, I am humbled by the outpouring of support, especially since I returned to the private sector last year after retiring as the longest-serving Regional Director at the Convention of States. I am still floored by how many remember my efforts during the pandemic with my group, Open Up KS, which was the largest conservative Kansas group until Facebook took it down. We coordinated rallies in Topeka and provided valuable information during a time of much misinformation.
The work at the Convention of States is unfinished. Kansas has not yet signed up. Despite personally shepherding six other neighboring states through the legislative process, Kansas has not joined due to various reasons, most notably the supermajority threshold needed to pass. If we are ever to have term limits on Congress or other meaningful reforms on the power in Washington, D.C., it will most certainly have to come from the states through Article V of the Constitution. There is zero possibility that Congress will ever reform itself, no matter if I go there myself and launch into the effort.
The real meaningful work is at the state capitols. This is where the policies that most affect your family and your lives are debated and decided. This is by design, as the power should be as close to the people in a Republic.
I want to be clear: I have not filed to run for any office, nor have I said I will file for office. I have not spent any money putting this page together, and if you have received this email, we have personally interacted over the last 11 years through my efforts to bring about meaningful legislative changes in Kansas. I have not purchased your email. I ask that you do not unsubscribe from this email, and I promise to keep you in the loop about what is actually going on in Kansas.
As this is Memorial Day weekend, I will be in deep prayer, thinking about sacrifice and service to this amazing country. Cecilia and I ask you to do the same as we ponder how we can serve Kansas next.
I would love to hear from you at Dave4KS@pm.me on your thoughts.
How can I help ?
I am thrilled to hear that you have been working to push forward with COS.
What other policy positions are at the heart of you and your family?
Constitutional rights? Parent rights? Transgender care for children or only consenting adults? Health freedom? Second amendment position?
Censoring speech that is offensive or not true? Or allowing speech to work itself out?
So many questions…
Very interesting in hearing more as a fellow Kansan
