It is clear that our Governor has decided to stall the clock on tax relief for all the hardworking Kansans. With her latest veto on the bipartisan tax plan passed overwhelmingly by the Kansas legislature, it is evident she does not want to bring much-needed relief to families struggling to pay for their groceries during these times of skyrocketing inflation. Coupled with her party’s insistence on more government control of our lives and growing government as a solution to everything, I find myself knowing I cannot just exit the stage in my political work.
I have been receiving many phone calls over the last month encouraging me to run for elected office. Cece and I have been in deep prayer, considering the thought of putting our family through the stress and sacrifice required to serve as an elected official. She is my rock and has helped me understand we are in a great position to stand up and continue to fight for the grassroots I have served over the last decade.
Earlier this week, Cece and I drove to Topeka to formally file to run for the Kansas Senate in District 17 (Lyon, Morris, and Geary Counties). There is much unfinished business to take care of, and I cannot sit and watch the Governor handpick the Republican that will represent me in Topeka. I have stood up to the Governor before, and I am ready to do it again.
I choose to stand, but this will not be an easy fight to win. There will be a primary, and the handpicked candidate to shepherd in the Governor’s agenda is well-funded and is getting the backing from the elitists ready to shove their ideals and socialism expansion plans into high gear. Please choose to stand with me, and together we truly will Open Up Kansas to a bright future!
You are the right person for this position, at this moment. You have found your voice defending state’s rights, so it now seems fitting that you would take that voice to the floors of the Kansas State Senate. I wish you much success, David!!!
