America at 250: Honoring My Revolutionary Ancestor by Fighting for Our Future
Conservative Voice for Geary County | Liberty, Accountability, and Common Sense
As we approach the 250th anniversary of the founding of this great nation, I’ve been reflecting on my own family’s story — a story of courage, sacrifice, and unbreakable commitment to freedom.
My forefather fought in the American Revolution. He endured the horrors of being captured twice by the British. He joined the treacherous campaign to invade Canada through Quebec, only to be captured. Upon his release — after promising not to take up arms against the Crown — he immediately signed onto a privateer ship (Oct 1776) to continue fighting for American independence. His ship was captured in the spring of 1777 off the coast of France. He survived the brutal conditions of Folsom Prison in England and returned to America to live out his American Dream and raise a family in freedom.
He came to this land seeking religious freedom, arriving under an indenture of servitude. He risked everything for the ideals we too often take for granted today: liberty, self-reliance, and limited government.
That same spirit runs in my blood.
Today, far too many in our nation want to dwell on the imperfections of our past instead of honoring the extraordinary progress and principles that made America the greatest experiment in human freedom the world has ever known. Instead of embracing the American Dream, some push for bigger government, more handouts, and socialistic policies that undermine the very foundation my ancestors fought to secure.
I believe in President John F. Kennedy’s words:
“Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.”
We don’t need more government dependence. We need more accountability. We need to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. We need leaders who will make government more efficient, transparent, and truly servant to the taxpayers — not the other way around.
That is why I am running for Geary County Commission, District 1.
Just as my forefather was willing to sacrifice for liberty, I am committed to fighting for fiscal responsibility, limited government, and real results here at home in Geary County. The American Dream my ancestor believed in — the dream of freedom, opportunity, and self-determination — is worth defending in 2026 and beyond.
As we celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday, let us honor our Founders and patriots by recommitting ourselves to their vision.
I humbly ask for your support as we work together to keep Geary County strong, prosperous, and true to the principles that built America. Together, we can, and will make Geary County,
David Schneider
Republican Nominee for Geary County Commission – District 1
